Natural mineral pigments

Where our colours begin.

Purpura tiles are coloured with natural mineral pigments. These pigments are mixed with marble flour to create the coloured surface layer of each handmade cement tile.

Good tiles take time.

After pressing, our cement tiles need approximately 28 days to cure and dry, allowing the cement to harden and develop its strength. This is part of the production process; the total lead time for your order is confirmed separately.

Patterns

Mix, rotate, repeat.

The studio includes decorative motifs, borders and plain tiles. Choose a pattern in the designer to see how it reads as one tile or across a whole surface.

Materials & care

Know the material you choose.

Cement tiles and ceramic corset mosaics are different products. Their installation and care requirements should be considered separately.

Handmade cement tiles

Cement tiles need impregnation. Gentle, pH-neutral products suitable for natural stone help care for the surface. Acidic liquids and grease can leave marks, so spills should be dealt with promptly.

Ceramic corset mosaic

The traditional small corset mosaic described in our catalogue is cut from unglazed, through-coloured ceramic. Its material and installation requirements differ from those of handmade cement tiles.

Planning installation

Discuss the substrate, waterproofing, grout and impregnation with Purpura and your installer before work begins. Underfloor heating and shower installations need product-specific guidance.

A surface with character

Slight variations and a developing patina are part of the appeal of cement tiles. Confirm your chosen product, dimensions, finish and a physical colour sample with Purpura when ordering.
